Cars line the street as couples walk arm in arm to the entrance where the first Hops and Hope Benefit is taking place. Elegance ensconces the attendees as they accept a glass of beer and make their way to a place at the long tables. A violinist plays classical music in the background as a community converses, "So you're a fan of beer..." and, "Ah, a beer connoisseur!" and the usual, "It's so good to see you here!"
Warren and Jasmine Johnson, New Hope board members, are our hosts for the evening. An evening made extra special by Warren's passion for making homebrewed beer.
Passion, opportunity, gratitude... concepts that stand as the evening's themes -- both in a military community stationed in Germany and the community of New Hope Heroes in Lodwar, Kenya. And the extraordinary idea that we can use our passions to extend hope and opportunity to others.
Generosity is one of the defining characteristics of those in attendance. For they understand what it means to be given an opportunity. And they 'get it' when it comes to making sacrifices so that others may have an opportunity to receive education and pursue their dreams.
So while we enjoy culinary specialties such as Thai Chicken Romaine Boats and Pale Ale, Pulled Pork with Coleslaw on fresh bakery bread and Black IPA, finished with Stout cake filled with Bailey's Ganache topped with Irish Cream frosting and Porter... (yes, an evening of deliciousness, for sure)... we also anticipate the difference our contributions and sacrifices will have in the lives of the New Hope Heroes.
Empowered in order to empower others.
A huge thank you goes to Warren and Jasmine Johnson and their team: Zach and Kim Smith and Angela Hampton for a tremendously successful Benefit Dinner and Silent Auction. Special thanks to those who generously contributed to the Silent Auction and to those of you who supported New Hope through your investment of tickets purchased and attendance.
